KIWICHA GRAIN
This Inca grain called Inca Wheat
was as important as corn in the natives’ diet. Kiwicha
is very high in proteins and in lysine,
an amino-acid normally lacking in vegetables.
Kiwicha
seeds are highly nutritious as they have
more protein than most cereals and a better balance
of amino acids than any other plant.
Kiwicha is easy to cook, very palatable and its protein is very well
suited for human consumption. Its high
nutritional value makes it especially good for children and the elderly.
It contains minerals such
as calcium, phosphorus, iron, potassium and zinc.
Several studies have shown that Kiwicha grain is
beneficial to those suffering from heart disorders or hypertension.
When consumed regularly, Kiwicha reduces blood pressure and cholesterol
while it improves immunity.
Kiwicha can be consumed as a cereal
without cooking or it can be used in stews, soups, breads, meats, flour
etc.
